Comments: I was stationed at the Nike site in Hardheim from 74 to 76, and while so many truly did not like that 24 on, 24 off schedule from hell.....I was single, 20 years old, and it was perfect for me at the time.
Once a month there was a hitchike to Penden Barracks and then a train to Frankfort.....only problem was no trains going back so beginning at 3 or 4 am there was a significant push to get back in time for the 7:00am guard mount.....that was always a challenge.
Anyone hear from a Tom Therault or a Skeeter Anderson, both missle crewmen and friends, please point them in my direction. Also, I always wondered what happened to the Duetuerhauf in downtown....loved the old couple that ran it but really loved their two grand daughters as well.
Take care folks! Here's to surviving!

Comments: I arrived at the 195th Ord. Det in Dec of 58 and left in june of 62. So I had lots of time going to all of the sites. Sad to see how all is really just a memory.
Comments: I was stationed in Hardheim from 8/0/63 - 4/0/65 .For the most part the time was quiet except for the JFK presidential assaination. We were watching a movie and someone came in and told us first that he had been shot then was dead. The German people in Hardheim for the most part thought it had been a conspiracy. I always loved Hardheim the gasthauses and people were very giving...
