Comments: I was in the IFC area from 1959 to 1961. I lived off base for about 11 months while my wife was there. We lived in Brackenheim. I was at the 2008 reunion. Will see you all at the 2010 reunion.
Comments: Nice job on the web site! I was stationed at 3/71st Bravo Btry, 74-76. I really cherish my memories of that time in Germany. The countryside was beautiful, the people were great, and I made some good Army friends and had some wonderful times.

Comments: Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the "final" movement of Charlie Btry to Hardheim was due to the restructuring of the 94th ADA Group in the mid to late 60s. 94th Gp went from 6 battalions to four. All kinds of "moves" were really just re-naming units. I served in the BOC and lived at Bravo Btry most of the time from Oct 62 until Dec 66. Later I came back to 3/71 and served in Delta Brty, Bravo Btry and HQ Btry between June 72 and Feb 78. Most of the time I was at Bravo Btry as IFC Maintenance Warrant. I eventually retired from my last duty at McGregor Range control and then taught Nike Maintenance to NATO students at Ft. Bliss.

Comments: Great Work on setting up the Web-site for Charlie Battery 3rd Missle Battalion, 71st Artillery. I wasn't part of the line Batteries, A, B, C, or D but was assigned to HHB/3rd Msl/71st Arty with duty at the (BOC) Battalion Operation Center, colocated with Bravo Battery at GrossSacksenheim. I was assigned their from 1959 to 1961. I have lots of memories of Germany and the great soldiers I served with in the US Army Air Defense Command. It was a pleasure reviewing all the material you have posted...if I can be of any help, please don't hesitate to ask. Please authenticate Papa Hotel, XX That's a Roger! Comments: Congratulations on your new site, Dean. All of the 3/71st Veterans from Bravo Battery wish you well and if we can be of assistance, please let us know.
THANKS FOR THIS WEB SITE.WE HAVE A LOT OF PICTURES AND HISTORY OF THE 3RD BN 71ST ADA,AND TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT OF CHARLIE BATTERY FOR THE PERIOD 1959-1961 IS ESPECIALLY EXCITING. IT REQUIRED A LOT OF WORK AND COMPUTER SKILLS ON YOUR PART TO PUT ALL THIS TOGETHER. IT'S AMAZING THAT AFTER FIFTY YEARS YOU HAVE BROUGHT THIS INTERESTING SITE TO THE INTERNET AND MADE IT AVAILABLE TO THE GUYS WHO SERVED DURING THAT TIME.
FIFTY YEARS TAKES US BACK TO THE TIME WHEN WE WERE YOUNG WITH HIGH ENERGY AND SOMETIMES DO SOMETHING A LITTLE CRAZY.
I REMEMBER A FUNNY THING THAT HAPPENED TO CHARLIE BURGESS AND GERALD TYNE. THEY WENT TOGETHER AND BOUGHT AN OLD GERMAN CAR. ONE DAY THEY WITH TO GERMAN GUYS WERE DRIVING THROUGH THE COUNTRY AND WERE DRIVING TO FAST FOR ROAD CONDITIONS RAN UP ON A CURVE AND COULDN'T MAKE THE TURN,RAN OFF THE ROAD HIT AN APPLE TREE AND KNOCKED THE APPLES OUT OF THE TREE. THE OLD GERMAN FARMER SUED BURGESS FOR THAT CROP OF APPLES.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE '08 REUNION IN BRANSON SWAPPING STORIES. SOME OF THE GUYS TOLD SOME TALL ONES.
I WILL VISIT YOUR SITE OFTEN HOPING TO FIND A NOTE FROM SOME OF THE GUYS.
BEST WISHES BILL GRIFFIN
