Jerry Haslett, Fred (Olney) Van Zandt, Robert Hamilton at a Party. This is a great picture...!
That's Dale Paulson in the background.
Lt. Thomas Downing - Tripping The Light Fantastic
And off to the left, getting a big kick out of it is Jerry Merrick.
A Dapper And Debonair... Man About Town
This is a great photo of Jim Fitzpatrick.
By the looks of the building out the window, it appears that they are at Gerszewski Barracks.
And if you look closely at the first window on the bottom row there is somebody sitting in the window with his legs dangling in the breeze.
The guy with the bottle of gin is Alpha Section crewman SP4 Gary Winslow and my old section mate from Bravo Section C-4/4 at Kingston, WA. When he arrived I went straight to Section Chief SGT Egan and told him we need this guy in Alpha Section.
How's that for service...'ey
From left to right is Mark Bates, then MP Lance Loo, and finally, SP4 Jim McPherson, an Assembly Technician trying out his new camera in the Alpha and MP Sections Squad bay on the third floor.
And what about the drapes...? We didn't have drapes...!
Was there room service then too...?
Our bay was on the Main Gate end of the barracks.
Charles Ohearn Receiving His Promotion
Charles Ohearn receives his promotion to Chief Warrant Office III on the front steps of the Charlie Battery Barracks in 1965.
Presenting the promotion is Battalion Commander Ernest Roberts, while Charles' wife and son, as well as Battery Commander Frank Musmanno, join in the celebration.
Charles worked in Assembly down in the Launching Area, although due to critical manpower shortages at the time, he performed a variety of other duties around the Battery.
I'm not kidding, the Bratwurst they served was this big...!
As Ron remembers, the man on the left was a Bravo Section Crewman, a really great guy and a draftee from Elizabeth, New Jersey, But unfortunately, he can't remember his name, so if anyone knows his, or any other unidentified personnel, please let us know. It takes all of us...!
The guy in the middle in a Class A uniform is Mark Bates, an Alpha section crewman who heading for Battalion to muster out.
And of course, yours truly is on the right. The two of us in our Class B khakis were waiting for the bus to Rhein-Main for our first ASP trip to Crete.
Roy Acuff Entertaining The Troops
These traveling shows would be held in the Mess Hall. The tables would be cleared and the chairs set up in front of an impromptu stage or the shows would be held on the floor.
