I am guessing that this is the LCT. First because that's the area where I would be. Second, all of the guys I recognize are Launching Area people. So, I think the officer standing on the trailer landing is 1st Lt. Gerald Richardson. In checking the “ASP Travel Orders” in the Archives Section, only 3 Officers from Charlie Battery traveled to Fort Bliss. Captain Popovics (Fire Control Officer,, 1st Lt. Richardson (LCT), and CWO Richard C. Lawson from Assembly.
On the ground, at the base of the stairs, looking up at the people on the landing is SP 4 James Mullins. And standing to his right is Malvin Ward. And to Mal's right in that group of three, is, I think, Sgt. James Butler. He is the farthest to the left of the image, and was the platoon Sgt. of the Launching Area.
The Officer to the far right of the image is the Range Officer filling out the results of the day's shoot.
This is a bit of an assumption, however, the 3rd - 71st ASP Travel Orders list only one E-5 for Charlie Battery, so I don't see how it could be anyone else.
If anyone can positively identify the E-5 sitting in the IFC trailer, please take one step forward, and let us know.
Also, the man with his back to us, and talking with Curtis, is Msgt Fath of Assembly in the Launching Area.
