“The Douglas C-124 Globemaster II, nicknamed “Old Shaky”, was a heavy-lift cargo aircraft built by the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California”. - From Wikipedia - To learn more please “Click Here” for more information about this aircraft.

The plane was not pressurized, had no formal bathrooms other than buckets, and was not a fun plane to travel on. As Ron states, when the plane had to go up to 16,000 feet to avoid bad weather a lot of guys got altitude sickness and it became a real mess.

In a conversation with Ron Daum he identified all of the personnel in this photo except one.

From the left is: Staff Sergeant Jones, next is Alpha Section Panel Operator Spec 4 Ron Daum, then Staff Sergeant John Standerfor, the person to his left is unknown, possibly the Bravo Section Chief, and finally to the far right, is Spec 4 Henry Ford.

One primary reason why Ron was chosen for ASP's is that he had the uncanny ability to be in two places at the same time.

Ein überragend Crewman...!
